THE TEHRAN MODERN
A Reader about Art in Iran since 1960
“The Tehran Modern” reader offers multifaceted insights into the development of the visual arts in Iran since the 1960s. The texts open up an examination of Iranian Modernism. It is a modernism that is characterized by a dynamic process of formation that began almost abruptly in the 1950s and reached its completion within only a few decades.
This “Tehran Modern” cannot be seen entirely detached from international developments and, at the same time, facilitates new perspectives on our “own” Western modernism.
