FROM A TO Z

In 1991 I was working on the application portfolio for the visual communications department at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin. The brief was to create something for the theme »from A to Z«.
Since I had no idea at all about becoming a typographer later, I found a photographic solution: I got an S-train ticket and took photographs of the people on the train. My journey took me from the very poor Northeast Berlin (the former Eastberlin workers area) to the very posh Southwest (the former Westberlin).
Now, these images a something like a documentation about the strange first years after the fall of the Berlin wall.
But I never sent in my application since I prefered to study at the Glasgow School of Art and later at the Kunsthochschule Berlin Weißensee in former Eastberlin.
